This was my backup upper for if anything happened to my PWS Alpha LT, purchased brand new earlier this year. Round count is somewhere under 200, only shot when changing / zeroing optics, which happened several times. Primary Weapons Systems makes phenomenal weapons, but I stumbled into an MCX Spear LT in a carbine length, so the Alpha LT will be the backup gun, and I have no use for a third 14.5” carbine in 5.56.
Muzzle device is a Surefire SOCOM closed tine flash hider, and will serve as a quick attach mount for any Surefire SOCOM cans (RC2, RC3, Mini-2, etc). The pin and weld means the muzzle device counts as barrel length, so with a 14.5” barrel, 2.6” flash hider, minus about a half inch of threading, it is well over 16” total in the eyes of the law. This is officially a proper length rifle, when combined with any standard AR lower. The MK114 is a long stroke piston system, which utilizes a buffer tube, so you get the best of both worlds, with a cleaner and more consistent running gun, that still shoots a little softer due to the buffer tube being incorporated into the long stroke piston design. Very quick and easy way to turn your AR into a piston gun, and an extremely accurate one at that.
All PWS barrels come with a sub-moa guarantee when using quality ammo. That $12.95 box of AAC 77gr OTM will accomplish this, and Hornady Frontier / Hornady Black / any other “cheap” but heavy grain ammo will come very close, 1MOA with the right trigger/ optics / stabilization / shooter. PWS guns also come with Radian Raptor charging handles, and an adjustable gas system that is easily accessed and manipulated through a small gap towards the front of the handguard (see pictures).
These uppers are constantly out of stock and sell for $1099 new, and they don’t come with a $150 Surefire SOCOM quick mount muzzle device pinned and welded. A competent gunsmith can undo a pin and weld and replace with the muzzle device of your choice, if you aren’t wild about the Surefire. 14.5” barrels provide nearly identical velocity as 16” barrels - we’re talking a difference of maybe 50-80 fps, depending on the ammo, and when you’re already between 2600-2900 fps, the difference is essentially meaningless. On the flip side, the shorter barrel length is instantly noticeable. It makes the gun less front heavy, better balanced, and easier to wield in tighter spaces (hallways, getting in and out of vehicles, etc; there is a good reason the military chose 14.5” as the most desirable compromise of maneuverability vs performance, and the pin and weld option lets you have this same advantage, which is why they are now so popular and constantly sold out).

Mainly looking to sell, but will consider trades (plus money if the values are misaligned) for a Steiner P4xi, Trijicon Credo HX 1-6 SFP (Red dot, 5.56 BDC reticle), Trijicon Accupoint 1-4 (red triangle retcikdd) Aimpoint ACRO P2 / Aimpoint T2 (bonus if it’s on a nice mount, Scalarworks LEAP preferred), ACOG TA02 (red crosshair or red horseshoe dot), and as mentioned above, depending on what you have, maybe it’s a one for one trade, or maybe trade + money. No tricked out Glocks or entry level AR’s, please. Willing to negotiate if you have a compelling offer. Thanks for reading.
