OMEGA GIDEON SHADOW PISTOL 45acp. The Gideon Shadow is a straight blow back closed bolt weapon that can easily be converted between 9mm, 40 cal and 45 ACP with just the change of the barrel, bolt and magazine. No other parts of the gun have to be changed or replaced to change the caliber. The pistol has a 7.87" barrel length weighing in at about 5 lbs. total weight, magazine unloaded. The receiver has an integrated rear hinge for a folding stock / arm brace. There is a rear sling attachment point on the left side of the weapon making for convenient single point sling attachment. With the front finger guard it allows for a two point sling attachment. The Gideon Shadow receiver is made of a high grade glass filled nylon giving it not only high strength but as well as giving it toughness, helping it to resist fractures and brakes if dropped. This platform provides 935 ft/s (45 ACP) with an effective range of 100 m in 9mm and 65 m in 45 ACP. The feeding system is a 30 round magazine for the 9mm and 40 cal and a 25 round magazine for the 45 ACP. The 40 cal and 45 ACP both have a straight box magazine while the 9mm has a curved box magazine. All three magazines lock into the same lower. The barrel is easily changed while being held in with only a barrel pin. The lower is held into place with one rear push pin. The front of the lower is locked into position with a molded in swing down in the receiver. There is no head spacing required like in the roller lock platform. The lower has a last round hold open device locking the bolt open when the magazine is emptied. With a quick jab of your thumb after inserting a new magazine the bolt closes and primes the chamber with a live round. It is simple and efficient and now wasted movement.There is no gunsmithing necessary for this weapon. There are no special tools needed for assembly or disassembly. With the use of the quick change barrel pin, made by Omega, the entire weapon can be disassembled down to the bare receiver, including the removal of the barrel. Making for ease of cleaning of all internal parts including the barrel. There are brass threaded inserts molded into the receiver allowing for attachment of two front side rails (for lasers and flashlights), a front bottom rail and a top scope rail.
