Colt 1911 model that was made between May and October 1918.
Owner has had it since 1980 and it was only fired once ..that was in 1980.
Very, very good condition and looking. May have been refinished at some time prior to 1980.
It may have been put back into service for use during WWII...because it was made towards the end of WWI... which was November, 1918.
Some identifying marks: JMG..... J.M Gilbert (Govt. Inspecrion and Approval) stamped after the finish for serial numbers 230,000 to 302,000. Barrel is Colt "P".... possibly made in or around 1945. "H" on top of frame ordinance inspector stamped before finish. "G" located on top of frame... gun was made to fill government contract stamped before finish.
Grips are original as are all components... original to the era.
Comes with FOUR "two tone" .45 Colt magazines each marked "A" on the heel. American Pin Company, Waterbury, CT.
Two packs of 10 each .45 ammunition made in 1918 and marked "18". One pack from Winchester and one pack from Peters.
