This is a nice example of a rare Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1942. It is a first-year Mauser production, where only 19,000 of these were made, making it only slightly more common than the zero series or Nazi-marked svw 45's. This one is matching. It has the correct "Eagle 135" military proofs and a dusty-blue finish. It has retained somewhere between 85-90% of this variation. Most of the finish loss is on the front strap, but there is also minor wear on the high edges of the slide and around the muzzle. Tiny dots of oxidation throughout. Comes with excellent grips and a period-correct Walther magazine. The bore has decent rifling with pin-pricking throughout. De-cocker is functional.
I believe the holster to be a high quality repro, as I picked it up at a yard sale a couple years ago.
I will also be selling the previous consecutively numbered P38 (BYF 42 3635) seperately. If still available, you can buy both at a discount.
