Here is a very early Monson Mass, Dan Wesson Model 14 chambered in .357 Magnum/.38 Special.
The serial number is located under the crane as opposed to the frame, how you know it's an early piece.
Operationally, this piece is flawless. It has bright cylinders and a clean bore, showing deep lands and grooves. The grips are excellent.
The muzzle shows light silvering to either side. There is no damage to the metal or the grips.
Early Monson's are the most desirable Dan Wesson revolvers. This one is great for shooting or collecting. These have easy to remove barrels, which can be switched-out, shorter or longer, there are several designs of grips available as well.

What appears as scratches, mostly seen on the cylinder and barrel, is oil and lint.
