Argentine 1909 Mauser "Modelo Argentino" chambered in .30-06, made in Germany by DWM "Deutsche Waffen Und Munitionsfabriken", well done conversion with an Interarms Sporter Stock, and an original HK91 leather sling.
The Mauser 1909 was a modified version of the iconic Gewehr 98 which was the main German infantry service rifle of World War I.
This example features excellent wood and a nice crisp coat of arms showing the rising sun and two shaking hands, connoting the unity of the provinces of Argentina.
The hands come together to hold a pike, which represents power and willingness to defend freedom, epitomized by the Phrygian cap on the top of the spear.
The hands stand for friendship, peace, unity, and brotherhood. The Phrygian cap symbolizes freedom like the traditional French Revolution era liberty cap.
Similar to the fate of the chrysanthemum stamp "mum" on Japanese Arisaka rifles at the end of World War 2, the Argentinian government enacted a law that required the crest to be removed from all weapons sold to foreign buyers.
However, this crest survived making it a unique piece and an excellent shooter as the .30-06 ammo is much easier to find than it's original 7.65x53mm cartridge.
Must be 21 years old with a valid ID, comes with a hard case and a bill of sale, $495 cash, located in West Palm Beach, (214) 783-7380.
