For sale is a WW1 production Mauser C96 pistol, chambered in 9mm. 1916-1918 it is nearly impossible to accurately date these pistols.
Sub 100k serial number, it is generally agreed that wartime production pistols stopped at 135,000
*mostly numbers matching* the slide lock, and grips are not numbers matching. However, the slide, frame, floorplate, hammer, and bolt are numbers matching.
500 meter rear sight(as opposed to 1000m on commercial models/fakes)
Factory 9mm barrel (not a sleeved/bored/chopped 7.63 barrel)
Correct Imperial German markings.
The "red 9" grips are not original to the pistol, however I believe them to be genuine as they have 27 grooves (as opposed to 12 on fakes) and the correct serial number range. They do show a lot of unusual wear that I can not explain beyond a personal preference to fit someone's hand?
Finish is good, with usual and correct holster wear on the muzzle end of the barrel and sides of the slide.
Bore and rifling are good
Function is good.
Rear sight slider and extractor are blued, which indicates they have been replaced at some point.
That said, I believe this to be a genuine example of a "red 9"
Comes with an accurate reproduction stock/holster with cleaning rod.
