This rifle is virtually all original except for a reconditioned stock.

According to the serial number 5463800, this SA M1 was made in January of 1955. This one has the original Barrel and a partially replaced stock. The visible markings are as follows. There are no import marks. The receiver is marked “U.S. RIFLE/CAL .30 M1/SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/5463800”. The stock is marked with a “P” behind the trigger guard and a cartouche which is unreadable.

Stock: I "Believe" that most of the stock is original with dings, dents and scratches that are indicative of its age. There is one portion that has been varnished and the cartouche is unreadable. Overall condition is good but dirty. No cracks or excessive wear or major issues.

Trigger: Appears unmarked

Overall Assessment: This is a very nice honest example of a Post WWII era M1 Garand. This rifle retains about 90% of its original metal finish. There is some wear in the typical high spots. It cycles and functions correctly. I have not fired this rifle but I have a high degree of confidence that it functions and fires as it should. This rifle still has its original barrel which is unusual. While the stock has seen better days, I believe the rifle to be otherwise all original and would make a nice addition to a collection.
