Thompson/Center Arms .50 Cal Hawken Plains Rifle, an authentic reproduction of the iconic Hawken muzzle loader that helped settle the west.
The Hawken rifle came about from a need of people moving westward for firearms capable of taking down game larger than the rabbits, squirrels, and deer they hunted in the east.
Moving westward, they would encounter elk, bear, and bison which demanded a high caliber rifle based on heavy architecture for maximum power and accuracy.
This TC rifle is in excellent condition and features a 28 inch octagonal barrel, American walnut stock, double set trigger, adjustable sights, a case hardened and engraved lock, as well as a high luster brass trigger guard, butt plate, and patch box.
The traditional Thompson/Center muzzleloaders are largely responsible for the resurgence of black powder hunting that began in the U.S. in 1970 when Warren Center designed the firm's Hawken-styled rifle.
