This revolver was produced in 1953, making it the second change to the legendary chief’s special that being the serrated ramp front sight. It is a five screw with small grips known as the baby chief because of the modified I- frame design and small trigger guard.. Only about 50000 of these small frame revolvers were produced . So while not considered rare it is difficult to find a matching number revolver in good condition. This specimen is indeed matching numbered with tight lock up and strong clean bore. It retains its blue luster with a few signs of use . The .38 special cartridges of that date were more powerful than today’s standards so this is a strong well built mini cannon suitable for pocket carry self defense. I hate to part with this fine example $1953 OBO
